Is there still romance in modern dating? With the rise of modern apps, people now turn to Tinder and Bumble for dating assistance. As ideas and expectations about marriage have evolved, so has the ritual of courtship. Marriage is now linked more to affection and less to alliances.

As this link to affection expanded, suitors strived to “fill her ears with themes of love.” Mary Jo Bowes has researched our courting techniques, and “Games of  Courtship.”
