As the Winter’s daylight grows longer, the Historical & Genealogical Society of Indiana County (HGSIC) becomes busier with programing and a new temporary exhibit opening. The HGSIC’s new exhibit is From Indigenous Tribes to Colonial Revolutionaries . It opens on February 17. This is the first exhibit in a series on Indiana County history that is being done in conjunction with the 250 th anniversary of the United States. The reception for the exhibition is on February 20. As we wind down 2025, we, as a Society, need to look forward to 2026. 2025 showed steady growth in all the Society does. As we approach the new year, we need to prepare and plan for future growth. With all that the Society does—the programing, museum exhibits, fund raising, digitizing, public appearances—I foresee continued growth. It’s that time again, time to tear down an exhibit. While tear down seems like such a harsh thing to say, that appears to be the acceptable terminology for the act of removing an exhibit, putting the artifacts back into storage, and taking the signs down. This always seems to happen too soon, as it feels like the exhibit just went up last week rather than three months ago, and all that hard work and effort will be stacked away for the next time we run something similar.
